Was born on the 30^th of August 1954 in the settlement village Kopuys of

Orsha Region, Vitebsk Oblast. Nationality - Belarussian, citizen of the Republic of Belarus by birth. Lives steady at the Republic of Belarus for at least 10 years before the elections.

Has a higher education - graduated from Mogilev Pedagogical University, Belarussian Agricultural Academy. Historian, economist.

Served in border troops of the USSR. Worked as an official of the Region Executive Committee, the Main Secretary of Shklov Regional Organisation "Vedy", a deputy head of a collective farm, a deputy head of a combinat of building materials, the head of the State farm "Garadzez" (Shklov Region).

Was elected as the deputy of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus.

President of the Republic of Belarus since July 1994.
